Mandarin Chinese

Sequoia Elementary  teaches simplified Chinese with simplified characters which are prevalent throughout Mandarin-speaking communities. Mandarin Chinese is a critical growing form of global communication. It is the most widely spoken language in the world. Developing language skills enables students to develop higher-order cognitive thinking skills and encourages a celebration of cultural diversity and cross-cultural awareness. Grades 1-5 meet with their Mandarin teacher, in conjunction with their grade level teacher, each week for 30 minutes.
