PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Support)
Sequoia Stars
Sequoia Elementary's behavioral support program called, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral expectations and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support that improve lifestyle results (personal, health, social, family, work, recreation) for all students. Sequoia Elementary focuses on 3 clear behavioral and social expectations school-wide.
Sequoia Students:
1) Take Responsibility
2) Are Always Kind
3) Respect Others.
These behavioral expectations are practiced throughout our school and we encourage you to use them at home as well.
Mt. Diablo School Unified District has started to implement PBIS in most grade levels throughout the district. Sequoia Elementary School hopes to increase consistency across staff, students and parents in creating a positive learning environment and school culture.
