Fun facts about Independent Study

2026-2027 school year

~ Independent Study (IS) requests need to be filled out in the office by a parent at least two weeks before the student will be absent. 

~ Independent Study requests are permitted for as little as 1 day to a maximum of 15 school days per year.  

~ If the student’s assignments are not completed and turned the day that the student returns to campus after an IS, the absences will be marked as unexcused and the student may be ineligible for another independent study for the remainder of the school year.  Credit will not be given if the work is not received on time.

~ If the student is unable to return to school on the due date because of illness, a parent/ guardian should bring the completed work to school.

~ It is at the teacher’s discretion if the work that the student turns in meets the requirements as set forth in the Independent Study contract.
